Louisiana Secretary of State:
Elections Registration and Information Network (ERIN)
GCR & Associates, Inc. was retained by the Secretary of State (SOS) to convert a 20-year old mainframe system to a more current technological platform and make the system HAVA compliant in the process. ERIN, as the system is known to its users, is the Secretary of State's repository for information on all voters and voting related information. ERIN is used by 64 parish Registrars of Voters to maintain critical information on voters, their addresses, offices and districts they are eligible to vote for, absentee requests, voting history, and other important information. ERIN handles all election related accounting activities including paying vendors (poll place rentals, drayage vendors, ballot printing, etc.) and personnel (commissioners, custodians, etc.) who work during an election. ERIN interfaces with several external systems. Voter information is received from, and confirmed with, the Office of Motor Vehicles/Department of Public Safety and with the Social Security Administration. Additional enhancement features in the new ERIN include early voting processes, GIS-based re-districting using online maps, and Internet voter registration.
